IALE International School

Maternal -bachiller iale school

Our Family’s Experience at IALE International School We are a Belgian family with four children, all of whom started at IALE International School in 2018. When they first arrived, they spoke only Dutch and a little French. Looking back today, I can confidently say that IALE has done a fantastic job supporting their development, both academically and personally. My eldest daughter has since returned to Belgium to attend university and I am happy to say that she was very well prepared for this next step in her education. My eldest son belongs to the first generation of IB students at IALE, which I believe was one of the best decisions the school could have made. I hope that, in the future, the English-language programme will continue to expand, particularly at secondary school level. My youngest child started in Maternal and I can honestly say that the teachers and support staff throughout the school are wonderful. Their dedication, care and commitment make a real difference. One of the main reasons we chose IALE was its values: respect, family spirit , languages, science and a strong educational foundation. These values are fully aligned with what we believe in as a family. We wanted our children to grow up in an environment where respect for others, academic development and openness to different cultures go hand in hand. What I particularly appreciate about IALE is its family atmosphere combined with its international and multicultural community. Our children are growing up as international citizens, learning to communicate across languages and cultures and preparing for a future in which they may study or work in different countries. Of course, there are a few areas where I believe improvements could be made. These are my personal opinions, based on our family’s experience. Firstly, I would prefer more creative homework to be completed at school rather than at home, allowing children to enjoy their family time outside school hours. It is true that students have quite a lot of homework and tests, but this also contributes to ensuring they are well prepared academically. Nevertheless, I believe a slightly lighter workload would be beneficial, especially during school holidays of less than two weeks. Children also need time to rest, recharge and simply be children. Secondly, when it comes to school festivals and special events, I would love to see more opportunities for creativity without always having to buy costumes or additional items. Making costumes and uniforms out of paper or other simple materials could be a fun, creative and more sustainable alternative. Another important point for us as a family is affordability. We should not ignore the fact that private education is expensive. Coming from Belgium, where good public education is accessible and largely free, paying private school fees is something we had to get used to. We chose IALE because we believed in the quality of its education and the opportunities it could offer our children, particularly if they decide to pursue their studies abroad. I sincerely hope that IALE will continue to make this quality of education accessible and affordable for families in the future. An international education is a valuable investment, but its cost remains an important consideration for parents. These are, however, only a few constructive points in an otherwise very positive experience, and I emphasise that they reflect my personal opinion. I would happily recommend IALE International School to other families. We have seen our children grow, learn languages, develop confidence and receive a solid academic foundation. Above all, we have felt part of a warm, respectful and international school community. My only additional wish would be to see a little more English integrated into the secondary school curriculum, as I believe this would be an even greater advantage for students preparing for an increasingly international future. Overall, we are very grateful for everyth

Sotogrande International School

A broad education that teaches independence

What sets this school apart is its college-style approach. Students are placed in different levels for each class based on their individual strengths, so no one is held back or left behind. A kid can be advanced in one subject and still get support in another. Sports are a big focus here, but the school doesn't stop there. Students are exposed to a wide range of genres and interests, and there are great opportunities to take part in the arts. Whatever a child is drawn to, there's room to explore it. The school also does a great job teaching independence. Students learn to manage their own time and take ownership of their work, which pays off well beyond the classroom. At the same time, there's plenty of group work, so they build real collaboration and teamwork skills along the way. Overall, a well-rounded environment that challenges students and prepares them for what comes next. Highly recommend

Inclusive environment with great teachers

We have been with the school for 7 years, we love the diversity of kids and the atmosphere. The teachers are great and I feel that they truly see each child for who they are. No school is perfect, communication has room for improvement, especially as the school is growing. Our kids are really happy and so are we.

British College La Cañada

Good school

Our experience with British College La Cañada has been great overall. We’d give it an eight out of ten, primarily because the tuition price doesn't cover all the extras, which can become quite expensive for things that sometimes feel unnecessary. Despite that, the organization and communication from the school are excellent. We’re particularly impressed by the team of native speakers, which has made a positive difference in our child's language development and confidence. The curriculum is well-structured, creating a supportive and nurturing environment that balances academics with engaging activities.

Magnòlia

Learning in a fun way!

My daughter is 3 years old and goes to Magnòlia. We are very happy with the school. It’s a small school, and all the teachers and other staff know our daughters by name (our 1-year-old also goes to daycare at the same school). They organise lots of fun activities, use natural materials and introduce our daughter to learning in a fun and educational way. I feel like they also incorporate some Montessori principles into their approach to learning. They do a lot of arts and crafts, singing and dancing, and they even do yoga! Every month, they also choose a different country as a theme. The only downsides for me are that they describe themselves as a trilingual school, while in practice the kids are only taught in Catalan and English, so it feels more like a bilingual school. Also, the school only goes up to the age of 5, which means we’ll have to switch schools when our daughter turns 6.
